For more than 7,500 students throughout Connecticut, back-to-school means back to the dentist at schools served by Community Health Center, Inc.’s (CHC) mobile dental clinic. From Stonington to Stamford, Enfield to Clinton and many communities in between, CHC’s mobile dental team of skilled clinicians provide high quality oral hygiene and dental care for students who otherwise might not have access to a dental office.

Students of all ages and grade levels are treated in dental clinics at locations where CHC operates school-based health centers. Families participating in the program find the mobile dental program provides convenience and a full range of procedures, including cleanings, x-rays and restorative care. Instead of parents taking time off from work and students missing school for a dental appointment, the mobile clinic makes visiting the dentist easy and efficient.

“Oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups are the foundation of good health, especially for children and young adults,” commented Jane Hylan, Director, School Based Health Services. “CHC’s extensive state-wide network of community and school-based health services has grown to 190 locations, and we are pleased to offer dental care at our sites.”

CHC establishes school-based health centers at the invitation of local school boards, coordinating closely with superintendents and principals to integrate CHC’s clinic with existing school health programs. In addition to dental care, CHC offers schools the option of providing primary medical care and behavioral health services, at no charge to the school or district.
