Community Health Center, Inc. Appoints Dr. Kimberly Citron as Director of Domestic Violence Services, Research and Education

MIDDLETOWN, CT; February 3, 2016: Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), Connecticut’s largest primary care provider for underserved populations, announces the appointment of Kimberly Citron, PhD, as Director of Domestic Violence Services, Research and Education. Dr. Citron is responsible for CHC’s domestic violence services, including the New Horizons shelter, community support and education groups, and court-based victim advocacy, as well as expanding the role to bring a new focus to research and education.

Dr. Citron began her career at CHC in March, 2014 as a Psychologist providing behavioral health services to individuals and families, supervising postdoctoral psychology residents, and working on research projects focused on trauma through CHC’s Weitzman Institute.

In her new position, Dr. Citron will oversee New Horizons Domestic Violence Shelter, a 24/7 safe house for victims of domestic violence and their children, which CHC has operated for more than 30 years. In addition, the New Horizons program serves 15 towns and offers community education, support groups, individual counseling, court advocacy and consultation to CHC’s clinical provider teams.

Dr. Citron has a Clinical Faculty Appointment at Quinnipiac University, Frank H. Netter School of Medicine where she mentors student CAPSTONE projects and is an instructor for Independent Study courses. She is the author of numerous of publications, a children’s book, and speaks widely at professional conferences.

Dr. Citron earned her Bachelors and Masters in Forensic Psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the City University of New York Graduate Center.
