5/7/13 WEITZMAN SYMPOSIUM TO BRING TOGETHER LEADERS IN HEALTH CARE FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY
The Eighth Annual Weitzman Symposium, hosted by the Community Health Center, Inc.’s (CHC) Weitzman Center for Innovation in Community Health and Primary Care, will be held on Thursday, May 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Wesleyan University, Beckham Hall, Fayerweather Building, 45 Wyllys Avenue, Middletown.
4/15/13 Engaging Patients and Providers in Partnership to Prevent Heart Disease
The Middlesex County Coalition on Community Wellness is announcing a grant award from the State Department of Public Health, Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program for a Self-Blood Pressure Monitoring Program. This six month project will end in August of this year. Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), Middlesex Hospital, the Chatham Health District, and members of the Coalition, have partnered in this project to improve care coordination through blood pressure monitoring in hypertensive patients.
4/10/13 Community Health Center, Inc. Presents 5K Promoting Mental Health Awareness
Community Health Center, Inc. is proud to be presenting the inaugural CHC Meriden 5k: Race for Mental Health, with the support of lead sponsor Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The event will take place at Hubbard Park in Meriden, Connecticut on the morning of Saturday, May 11th, and will feature a 5k run/walk, a Superhero-themed Kids Fun Run, and a Health Fair.

On Thursday, January 3, 2013, clinicians working in CHC’s primary care sites around Connecticut and at El Rio Community Health Center in Tucson, Arizona, linked up via video conferencing to pain management experts in Arizona in the first of what will be weekly telemedicine consultations aimed at improving management for patients suffering from chronic pain.

Services being offered include dental cleanings and exams, oral cancer screenings, oral health education; behavioral health screenings, information and referrals; blood pressure screenings, diabetes and nutrition education; and information on qualifying for insurance.
11/28/12 COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER OF DANBURY ANNOUNCES EXTENDED HOURS AND NEW SERVICES
CHC of Danbury is now offering appointments during the early morning (beginning at 7:00 am) and evening (until 6:15 pm) hours, as well as daily lunchtime appointments. It has also added much needed services for its established patients that include child psychiatry, behavioral health care for adults, chiropractic care, podiatry and nutrition counseling.

The project, which was conducted in partnership with Community Health Center, Inc. and Yale Eye Center/Department of Ophthalmology, supported telemedicine, using digital imaging technology in the primary care office, as a strategy that can be used to screen underserved and at–risk patients for DR, increase compliance with screening, and streamline specialist referrals.
