The Community Health Center of Clinton opened in 2000, starting a transformation of a  formerly empty supermarket plaza into a vibrant and attractive commercial center featuring CHC, a major health and fitness center and a restaurant. In the dedication ceremony marking the event, the CHC of Clinton was heralded as the realization of a dream of long-time CHC Board member Leroy “Jack” Rackliffe,   Mr. Rackliffe, a patient/consumer representative to the CHC Board of Directors, had urged CHC to expand from its small office in Old Saybrook, which then housed both medical and dental offices of CHC.

Today, the Community Health Center of Clinton is the family doctor for 3,000 patients who come from towns all over the shoreline. The the majority coming right from Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. Over the past five years, CHC of Clinton has expanded its services to include:

Family medicine (adult, pediatric, women’s health) under the direction of  Kathleen Wessling, MD, Medical Director
Obstetrics and prenatal care,
Adult and child psychiatry and counseling services
Childbirth education, nutrition counseling and lactation
Eligibility (assistance with applications for pharmacy programs, Medicaid, conn-pace, etc)
Pharmacy discount program (340b program)
“Just in time” translation and interpretor services via the “Language Line”

CHC of Clinton is open five days per week, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours on Wednesday.  The medical and mental health departments provide emergency after hours call and coverage to established patients.
