NIMAA Celebrates Class of 2018 Graduation

MEDICAL ASSISTANTS TRAINED TO A NEW MODEL OF CARE LAUNCH CAREERS ACROSS U.S.

Middletown, Conn. and Denver, Col., April 19, 2018:  The National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA), a new educational institution created to transform the way medical assistants are educated, trained, and prepared for practice in primary care and other health care settings, held graduation ceremonies this week at sites in five states: Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.

NIMAA prepares graduates to work in high-performing, team-based practices, offering an affordable, hands-on education in host clinics. The 46 graduates included single parents, refugees, native Hawaiians and others seeking to launch or continue a career in healthcare.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical assistants is expected to grow 23 percent from 2014-2024, much faster than the average for all occupations, which expect growth of around 7 percent.

Mark Masselli, Chairperson of NIMAA and President/CEO of NIMAA’s parent corporation, Community Health Center, Inc., lauded the graduates for their determination, noting “we saw something special in you – the ability to serve as the lynchpin of the team in a new model of healthcare delivery.” He encouraged graduates to “make a difference for your patients and in your communities.”
