CHC Celebrates Topping-Off of the Knowledge & Technology Center Construction

MIDDLETOWN, Conn., November 17, 2017: Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC) topped off the construction of the Knowledge & Technology Center Wednesday morning. Local dignitaries, CHC staff, Middletown residents, and students from MacDonough Elementary School’s third grade class all signed a steel beam that signified the completion of the new building’s structure. The crowd watched as the beam was lifted in the air and put into place.

The event celebrates the” topping off” of its planned three-story, 30,000 square foot building that will house information technology, telehealth and other support and research functions for CHC’s statewide primary care network.

“The Knowledge & Technology Center will provide CHC with space to increase the efficiency of our support and research functions,” said Mark Masselli, President and CEO of CHC. “This building speaks to our commitment to serving those in need in our community.” 

CHC’s dedication to transforming the delivery of primary care has led to national recognition for its services and innovation in areas such as telemedicine, opioid addiction, training of Nurse Practitioners and Medical Assistants. 

“We started CHC 45 years ago in Middletown in a two-story walk-up with a group of community activists and Wesleyan University students who were dedicated to the proposition that health care is a right not a privilege” said Masselli.  “I’m proud of our growth, but more importantly I’m so grateful to the Middletown community for their support of CHC. We would not be standing here today without it.”
