Complex Integrated Pediatrics is Newest Weitzman ECHO Offering

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR NO-COST, COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING WITH NATIONAL EXPERTS

MIDDLETOWN, Conn., September 15, 2017: Community Health Center’s Weitzman Institute today announced the launch of Weitzman ECHO Complex Integrated Pediatrics. Beginning on October 16, 2017, the clinic will connect primary care medical and behavioral health providers nationally with a multidisciplinary team of specialists in complex pediatric care. Enrollment begins today, and the clinic is being offered at no cost to interested providers registering on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Complex Integrated Pediatrics clinic will use twice-monthly videoconferencing sessions to explore a variety of topics designed to improve the quality of care and clinical outcomes for underserved children and adolescents. Specialists from Community Health Center, Inc., Connecticut Children’s Specialist Group, New England Regional Genetics Network, and guest faculty from across the U.S. will offer educational presentations on key issues and provide recommendations on challenging cases posed by participants.

The nine-month program will address topics such as: asthma management and treatment; obesity; diabetes; suicide/self-harm; autism; and cardiology.

The clinic is designed to emphasize the integration, collaboration, and shared learning between medical and behavioral health providers, reducing variations in care and disparities in behavioral health access. Participants will develop new clinical competencies and confidence with complex pediatric cases.

Since its inception in 2012, Weitzman ECHO has grown into one of the largest ECHO providers in the country, delivering sessions on conditions such as chronic pain, substance abuse, complex care management, pediatric and adolescent behavioral health, Hepatitis C and HIV to nearly 1,000 providers in 25 states.

“Weitzman ECHO Complex Integrated Pediatrics is a unique opportunity for providers to learn from and interact with the country’s leading specialists on a range of complicated pediatric medical and behavioral health issues,” says Ági Erickson, Director of Weitzman ECHO. “We encourage pediatric providers to take advantage of this no-cost, high value program to improve care for their young, underserved patients.”
