The National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA), a new educational institution created to transform the way medical assistants are educated, trained, and prepared for practice in primary care and other health care settings, held graduation ceremonies this week at sites in five states: Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.

CHC Provides Free Dental Services to Children in Give Kids a Smile Program

Throughout the month of February, CHC will be providing free oral health services to its youngest patients without dental insurance through the Give Kids a Smile program. All children will receive cleanings, exams, restorative care, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, and dental education.

CHC Awarded $100,000 to Create Therapeutic Gardens at School-Based Health Centers

Schools in East Haven, Meriden and New Britain to Benefit

Building on its national recognition as a leader in connecting horticulture to better health outcomes, Community Health Center, Inc. has received $100,000 to create therapeutic community gardens at three school-based health centers in Connecticut. The funding was awarded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC) Chief Dental Officer Sheela Tummala, DDS, MPH, was presented with the Outstanding Clinician Award at the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) annual conference. Dr. Tummala was recognized for her exceptional work as a practicing dentist, her advocacy for her patients, her commitment to research and her service as an educator.

Denver Resident Takes Helm of Nation’s Most Innovative Medical Assistant Training Program

The National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Elena Thomas Faulkner as its CEO. She joins NIMAA from Denver’s La Clinica Tepeyac, Inc. where she served as Chief Strategy Officer, and will be based in NIMAA’s Denver office.
