Study Demonstrates Cardiology eConsults Will Save States Money, Improve Patient Access to Quality Specialty Care

In the first published randomized study of eConsults, research conducted at Community Health Center, Inc. and the University of Connecticut Health Center appears in this month’s American Journal of Managed Care. The study found that the use of eConsults for cardiology yielded a savings of $466 over traditional face-to-face consultations, and underserved patient populations who struggle with access to specialists received more timely care. 

PCDC Financing Supports $47 Million Expansion of Primary Care in Connecticut

The Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) recently completed financing on a $47 million project that will dramatically increase access to primary care services across three key Connecticut cities.

The financing enables Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), Connecticut’s largest federally qualified health center (FQHC), to increase services by 60 percent, expanding its reach to an additional 11,000 patients in economically distressed and medically underserved communities.

(CHC) Chief Dental Officer Sheela Tummala, DDS, MPH, was presented with the Outstanding Clinician Award at the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) annual conference. The National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Elena Thomas Faulkner as its CEO. She joins NIMAA from Denver’s La Clinica Tepeyac, Inc. where she served as Chief Strategy Officer, and will be based in NIMAA’s Denver office. 

Community Health Center, Inc. Receives $510,000 to Combat the National Opioid Crisis

Community Health Center, Inc. is pleased to announce the receipt of a $510,000 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to expand access to integrated substance use disorder and mental health services as part of its ongoing efforts to address the national opioid crisis.
