Training the Next Generation

Supporting Future Leaders in Primary Care

Tomorrow’s health care leaders are already here. CHC is proudly a major center for education and training for the next generation. Explore our programs below.

Nurse Practitioner Residency Program

America’s first residency training program for Nurse Practitioners, fostering primary care providers ready to care for patients in safety net settings. Current tracks include Family Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Postdoctoral Psychology Residency Program

Providing comprehensive training in the provision of psychological care to uninsured and underserved populations. Residents are taught to the patient-centered medical home model, and build their clinical and assessment skills under the expert guidance of our behavioral health providers.

National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement

NIMAA is transforming medical assistant training for the 21st century. It combines progressive learning techniques with an externship hosted at a top primary care facility to prepare MAs to work in an integrated, team-based primary care center for a fraction of the cost of traditional training courses.

Interprofessional Education and Training

CHC brings in hundreds of students and trainees each semester from all health disciplines, both clinical and non-clinical. Students are matched with a mentor and receive ongoing feedback on their performance. We have worked with educational institutes from across the state and country to bring students the highest quality experience.

Psychology Practicum Program

A robust training program where students can practice psychological care to patients across the lifespan under a licensed psychologist. The practicum year gives students a broad clinical experience that includes individual and group therapy, and focused didactic training.
