Emergency Broadband Benefit

Stay Connected during COVID-19! Apply today.

The Federal Communications Commission’s new Emergency Broadband Benefit is designed to help individuals and families who may be struggling with internet access during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides a discount up to $50 a month for broadband internet access for eligible households, and up to $75 a month for households on qualifying Tribal lands.

Eligible households may also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop or tablet from participating providers if they contribute between $10 and $50 dollars toward the purchase price.

Why you should apply

With more affordable internet you can access online information from the comfort of your own home, have faster and more responsive internet, and even access video telehealth appointments instead of having a conversation by phone!

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Qualify for the Lifeline program through participation in SNAP, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Federal Public Housing Assistance, or Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit;
  • Participate in one of several Tribal specific programs: Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal Head Start (only households meeting the relevant income qualifying standard), Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations;
  • Receive benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision, or did so in the 2019-2020 school year;
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;
  • Experienced a substantial loss of income since February 29, 2020 and the household had a total income in 2020 below $99,000 (single) or $198,000 (joint); or
  • Meet eligibility criteria for a participating providers’ existing low-income or COVID-19 program.

Outstanding payments to a broadband provider do not disqualify a household from eligibility under the Emergency Broadband Benefit.
