Volunteer to be a COVID-19 Vaccinator

Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a COVID-19 vaccinator at CHC! We are currently accepting volunteers for our drive-through clinics in Middletown, Stamford and East Hartford with more locations coming soon.

Volunteering as a COVID vaccinator is a big commitment of time, energy and talent—thank you very much for considering helping CHC in this role.

Please fully review this page before deciding if you are able to commit to this volunteer position.

Vaccinator Eligibility

There are two groups of eligible COVID vaccinators.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) recently issued an order expanding the professionals that can administer the vaccine — read it here. Please read this order carefully to determine if you are in the group of healthcare professionals already allowed to give vaccinations.

If you are in the group of individuals newly authorized to give COVID vaccinations after completing specific additional training, you must complete that training and provide a certificate of proof in order to volunteer as a vaccinator at CHC.

Volunteer Vaccinator Requirements

  1. You must commit to being available at least 1 day per week (Monday-Sunday) 8AM-4:30PM, or 2 half-days per week, 8AM to 12:30PM or 12PM to 4:30PM.
  2. You must provide the required background information appropriate to the role: current resume and current license or certification confirming eligibility to administer COVID vaccine (see below).
  3. You must provide us with proof of completion of Hepatitis B vaccine series or evidence of immunity and you must complete a “TB symptom checklist”.
  4. You must complete three online courses through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) before you submit your materials. See below for more information.
  5. You must consent for CHC to conduct a background check and verification of licensure or certification.

Required Trainings

CHC requires ALL vaccinators, whether employee or volunteer, to complete specific CDC trainings on vaccines in general, and the Pfizer vaccine specifically.  After completing each one, you must take the post-test, evaluate the course, and download a certificate of successful completion. These trainings will take approximately 2-3 hours.

Click here for instructions on how to access the continuing education credits, take the post-test and download a certificate of successful completion. You will email this certificate to CHC.

You’re Almost Ready to Volunteer!

Here’s what we need you to email us:

  • Your Resume
  • Documentation of Hepatitis B Vaccine Series or documentation of immunity
  • Proof of completion of the required trainings listed above

After we have received your materials we will reach out to discuss next steps and email you a link to complete the consent for background check and TB Symptom Checklist.

We know this is a big commitment and we greatly appreciate your generosity in helping us bring the COVID-19 pandemic to an end!

Let’s work together to bring the COVID-19 pandemic to an end!
