Ági Erickson Named Director of Project ECHO at Community Health Center, Inc.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn., February 16, 2016: Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), Connecticut’s largest primary care provider for underserved populations, announces the appointment of Ági Erickson to director of Project Echo, the virtual classroom that improves care to patients by bringing together medical experts to share knowledge and best practices.

In her new position within the Weitzman Institute, the research and innovations arm of CHC, Ms. Erickson will oversee and expand the teleconference program designed to improve care and treatment for people with complex health problems such as Hepatitis C, HIV/AIDS, pain management, drug abuse and mental illness. Project Echo educational sessions now link healthcare providers across 20 states.

“The program improves our ability to treat patients with complex illnesses and conditions by bringing experts together across disciplines and geographic boundaries to provide the most effective care,” says Ms. Erickson. “I strongly believe that primary care is the foundation of a good health care system, and I look forward to expanding and improving Project ECHO to better support primary care providers at home and nationwide.”

“Ági’s dedication, hard work and advocacy for our most vulnerable patients has helped expand Project ECHO from a single condition-focused weekly session to a national program widely regarded for its quality and innovation,” says Daren Anderson, MD, director of the Weitzman Institute, which engages in a wide range of the research and quality improvement projects for CHC. “I look forward to working with her to grow and explore innovative ways to support providers and transform primary care in the
U.S.”

Ms. Erickson received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Connecticut State University and her master’s degree in organizational leadership and health care management from Quinnipiac University. She lives in Southington, Conn.
