Community Health Center, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Denetra McBride as the Program Director of New Horizons, a 24-hour operational non-profit organization that provides services to victims of domestic abuse in the Middlesex County.

Denetra brings an illustrious background in non-profit organizations. Formerly, she was the Director of Community Engagement Programming at Favor, Inc. from 2013-2018. Denetra was responsible for supervising, training and evaluating service providers for over one thousand families across the state of Connecticut. Denetra graduated with a BA in Psychology and Political Science and received her JD from the University of Connecticut.

As the Program Director of New Horizons, Denetra will be responsible for the efficient, effective, and safe operation of the New Horizon 24-hour Shelter and crisis response services for victims of domestic abuse. She joins New Horizons in its 40th anniversary and looks forward to continuing their mission in ending domestic violence.

“Denetra joins us at a critical time, as we strive towards our goal of preventing intimate partner violence in the future, while responding immediately and effectively to individuals suffering now,” commented Margaret Flinter, Senior Vice President and Clinical Director of CHC. “New Horizons is unique in its full integration into a community health center, and we look forward to Denetra’s innovations and impact as she harnesses those resources on behalf of New Horizons.”

“I am excited to continue the great work that New Horizons has done in its 40 years and also becoming more involved in the community in Middlesex County and the domestic violence community across the state,” Denetra said. “I want to focus on the survivors by listening to them and understanding the vision that they have for their lives after New Horizons. My passion has always been to work with survivors and victims of domestic violence.”
