CHC moves COVID-19 Meriden testing site

Community Health Center Inc. is moving its COVID-19 testing site from State Street to the Dunn Sports Complex on the corner of Thorpe Avenue and East Main Street.

The change to the new location begins today at 8:30 a.m. The testing site is open to adults and children until 4 p.m., seven days a week,

A CHC spokeswoman said the testing site at its State Street facility was raising concerns as lines snarled traffic downtown. Most of those getting tested arrive in cars.

“We find more than 80 percent of those getting tested drive to the site, and we had been having traffic flow issues on State Street,” said Leslie Gianelli.  “We are moving many of our testing sites to larger venues, which allows for more efficient testing procedures and access for many more people to get tested.”

Tests are free and individuals do not need to be experiencing symptoms, have a referral or make an appointment. Results are generally available in two to three days.
