The city has opened a second free COVID-19 testing site at Norwalk Community College.

The site opened Tuesday and will operate daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The free testing at Veteran’s Park will also continue daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be no testing on New Year’s Day.

Testing is offered as a drive-in or walk-up basis and does not require an appointment. Test recipients do not need to be exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and can return for multiple tests, according to a statement from the Community Health Center.

“Community-based testing is critical to monitoring and managing the spread of COVID-19,” Norwalk Community College Chief Executive Officer Cheryl C. DeVonish said. “Norwalk Community College remains committed to supporting efforts that ensure all members of our community have access to critical resources, including reliable and convenient testing.”

Over the holiday weekend, Norwalk recorded 251 new COVID cases on Monday.

“Demand for testing remains high and it’s critically important for people to get tested to help slow the spread of this virus,” Mayor Harry Rilling said. “Having COVID-19 testing available seven days per week at Veteran’s Park, and now Norwalk Community College, greatly increases access for residents. I am thankful for the providers and staff who are working tirelessly to provide testing for our community.”

While it is not required, a scheduled testing appointment is recommended. Patients can register online.
