The local Norwalk Headstart program was informed it would be shut down if it couldn’t get kids dental care as was required by federal regulation. They called Adele Gordon and asked if she could help. Within three days, she organized the CHC dental staff to examine all 100 kids. The children were screened, and the Headstart Center was out of a predicament. Then Mayor Alex Knopp heard about our responsiveness and said, “We need a health center like yours in our community.” He asked if we would open in his home community, and we did.
