CHC launched the country‘s first formal postgraduate nurse practitioner residency training program in 2007 out of the recognition that new NPs committed to complex primary care in health centers needed and deserved such training. The model has been replicated nationally. Today, there are over 200 programs. In 2015, CHC founded a new organization, the National Nurse Practitioner Residency & Fellowship Training Consortium, to further advance the growth and rigor of these programs.
