Natasha Quinn Joins NIMAA Board of Directors

MIDDLETOWN, Conn., August 28, 2017: The board of directors of the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement have elected Natasha Quinn, Senior Medical Assistant at Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), as the newest member of the board. Quinn has been with CHC for more than 13 years, and was instrumental to the development of the teaching component of NIMAA.

Recently authorized by the Connecticut Office of Higher Education as a private occupational school, NIMAA offers an innovative and affordable approach to medical assistant training. Central to the program is hands-on clinical experience throughout the seven-month curriculum. Each student works closely with a preceptor to develop the skills and experience needed to work in a high functioning, patient-centered medical team.

Quinn served as a preceptor during the program’s first year, shaping the experience and being recognized as an outstanding mentor, role model, and teacher. Her expertise as a medical assistant contributed to preceptor learning sessions and aided her peer preceptors with the role – an essential element of the NIMAA program.

“Being part of NIMAA from the beginning has allowed me to have a voice for the medical assistants working every day in a primary care setting and team based care,” says Quinn. “It has allowed me to learn and grow not only as a Medical Assistant but as a teacher and leader in my department. I am excited to now be on the board of the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement and continue to learn and use my experience to ensure that NIMAA is successful.”
