The Community eConsult Network Relaunches as ConferMED

The Community eConsult Network, Inc. today introduces its new brand identity: ConferMED. As a national provider of telehealth services with a large specialty network and a customized approach to implementation, the new branding reflects the evolution and rapid growth of the company.

According to ConferMED’s director, Daren Anderson, MD, “ConferMED’s brand is intended to reflect what we’ve learned from our clients and what we provide to them: a comprehensive platform that makes it easy for primary care and specialty care providers to confer about cases. In addition to our platform, ConferMED will be offering clients more in terms of analytics, information and education.”

eConsults, a core ConferMED product, allow primary care providers to easily communicate with specialists in all major medical and behavioral health disciplines. When providers see patients, they often need to consult with specialists. Traditionally, the patient has been sent to the specialist – annually in the U.S. 35 percent of patients seeing a primary care provider are referred to a specialist. eConsults allow the provider to electronically communicate with the specialist, and questions frequently can be resolved without requiring the patient to incur the cost and inconvenience of seeing a specialist.

According to a study published in the December 2018 edition of Health Affairs, “Patients who had an eConsult had average specialty-related episode-of-care costs of $82 per patient per month less than those sent directly for a face-to-face visit. Expanding the use of eConsults for Medicaid patients and reimbursing the service could result in substantial savings while improving access to and timeliness of specialty care and strengthening primary care.”

ConferMED is currently providing eConsults to primary care providers and practices in 15 states. To learn more, visit www.ConferMED.com.
